IV. Film and concert in memory of Ustad Ali Akbar Khan on November 13, 2009
The entire music world was deeply saddened by the passing of the great maestro, Ustad Ali Akbar Khan, on June 18, 2009. His contribution to the music world was immeasurable and he will be missed by both Indian music lovers and his many students. The Ali Akbar College in Basel was so fortunate to benefit from his presence for over 20 years and now we are committed to carry on his great tradition of teaching.
The memorial evening will begin with the film “Ali Akbar Khan - Il Filo d’Oro” (the thread of gold), a documentary of the maesto produced by Werner Weick from the Swiss Italian television network. Much of the footage of the film was shot in Basel and it gives a wonderful impression of Khansahib’s musical vision and soul. The film will be followed by an intermission with Indian snacks and then a recital by Ken Zuckerman and Swapan Chaudhuri.
Please contact the College with any questions about the seminar.
